Blue Bloods TV Series with Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg
63A Return to the Small Screen for Tom Selleck
On friday night we saw the return of Tom Selleck to primetime TV in the new Police Drama on CBS, Blue Bloods which is a new tv series about numerous generations of New York Police Officers.
It has been quite a while since Selleck was on primetime TV playing Magnum P.I. which ran from 1980 to 1988. Although to his credit Tom Selleck has appeared in some primetime shows like Las Vegas as well as his memorable cameo role as Dr. Richard Burke in Friends.
In this new CBS show Selleck plays New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan who is serving in a job he inherited from his Dad. Serving with him in the mean streets of New York are his sons played by Will Estes and Donnie Wahlberg who are also Police Officers and his daughter played by Bridget Moynahan in the district attorney's office .
The show is a blend of cop drama and family drama and elements of both were visible in the first episode aired on Friday night about a young girl's kidnapping in the mostly Hispanic Washington Heights section of New York.
Of course Tom Selleck is no stranger to playing the role of a Police Officer on our screens as he has appeared on CBS as Jesse Stone in various made for TV movies portraying a small-town Chief of Police.
The original working title for this drama was going to be Reagan's Law, but was changed to Blue Bloods to invoke a higher impact title for the series.
In Summary:
In CBS's Blue Bloods TV show, Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) is the New York Chief of Police and patriarch of the Reagan Family, which he leads as diplomatically as he does the police department, even when dealing with the politics that plagued his unapologetically rude father, Henry (Len Cariou), during his stint as Chief of Police. A source of pride and concern for Frank in CBS's Blue Bloods TV Series is his eldest son Danny (Donnie Wahlberg), an experienced detective, married man and Gulf War War vetran who on occasion uses dubious off the wall tactics to solve cases. Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) is the youngest Reagan, fresh out of Harvard Law and the family's "golden boy." While the only Reagan woman in the family, Erin Reagan-Boyle (Bridget Moynahan), is a New York Assistant D.A. and recently single parent, who also serves as the legal compass for her siblings and father in Blue Bloods.

I always loved watching Tom Selleck on TV.
He always appeared to be a true gentleman actor. He never seemed to be like some other wild actors like Robert Downey JNR or Mickey Rourke.
I'm sure this new show will be a hit...

I watched the show last night and enjoyed it.
Tom Selleck is one of my favorite actors and I've been a long time fan since his Magnum P.I. days.
Hope CBS keeps him around for a while!
